Can You Do What It Takes To Prevent Damaging Product?

Audience: Warehouse Workers

Overview

The ‘Driver Supervisor’ at a large liquor distribution company contacted me regarding the need for training, due to a considerable amount of broken liquor bottles. During the recent months, the managers discovered that thousands of dollars had been lost in profit in just damages alone. The stake holders are not only concerned that there is a lack of proper training for both new and old employees, but also, the fact that the warehouse workers and liquor couriers lack accountability. They also regularly fail to adjust inventory to reflect the loss. Maintaining strong customer relationships and providing exceptional services are essential to the business’s success.

I recommended scenario-based eLearning that allows employees to make decisions regarding damages and to determine the proper steps when handling the liquor.

Process

I began working with Subject Matter Experts (SME’S) to develop an action map to identify goals, objectives, and discussed how changes could be made to improve employee understanding. A text based-story board was then drafted along with visual mockups made in Adobe XD for approval and developed a visual storyboard with programming notes.

Action Map -  I worked with SME’S to develop an action map and guided the expert to identify actions that would contribute to the training processes.

Text-based Story Board

After the action map was approved, I brainstormed with the SME’S on developing a text-based storyboard. Answer choices, prompt text, and character texts were included. A mentor will be available if the learner needs help on answering a question.

After the SME’S reviewed the text based storyboard and made a few modifications, the next step involved creating relatable scenario scenes and characters in Adobe XD.

Visual Mockups: Adobe XD- Adobe Illustrator

Once the SME approved the text-based storyboard, I designed the visual mockups for the project in Adobe XD. Adobe XD allowed for quick iteration and easy sharing to make improvement.

After the text-based storyboard was approved, I began creating brief mockups for the scenario-based eLearning. The client and I discussed using the companies color schemes and relatable characters.
